Privacy

The short version

Halfway is for you and the friends you pair with. There are no public profiles, no feed of strangers and no ads. We don't sell your data.

What we keep

Your account: how you sign in (Sign in with Apple, or your email address if you use a sign-in code), your name, username, time zone, and your profile picture and banner if you add them.

Your photos: each half you shoot, and the finished photos you make with friends.

Chats: the messages and GIFs you send to a friend you're paired with, and reactions to them.

Your room (Space): the pieces you put on it, like text, photos you pin, colours and song links.

Activity: your pairs, streaks, reactions, guesses, nudges, and reports you send.

Your device's push notification token, if you allow notifications.

Who sees what

Photos, chats and guesses: only the friend you share them with. A guess stays hidden from your friend until the photo is finished.

Your room: the people you're paired with.

Photos are stored privately and shown through links that expire within an hour.

Services we use

Supabase (database, sign-in, storage), Resend (sends sign-in code emails), Expo (app updates and push notifications), GIPHY (GIF search — your search words are sent through our server, not your account), Apple Music / Spotify link previews (when you add a song), RevenueCat (subscriptions), Sentry (crash reports, not linked to you) and PostHog (product analytics, no photos or messages). They process data only to run Halfway.

Your choices

Take back a half within 5 minutes of sending it, before your friend sees it.

Delete your photos with a friend from the pair screen, for both of you.

Block or report anyone from a photo, a message, their room or the pair screen.

Delete your account in You → Settings → Delete account. Your profile, photos you shot, messages you sent and your pairs are removed.

Turn notifications off per friend, or in your phone's settings.

Children

Halfway is for people 13 and older. We don't knowingly keep data of younger children.
